Beer Can Chicken on the grill - it is a fantastic way to wow your guests and have really fun, too! I mean, come on. What is more fun - or funny - as a dancing chicken! You've seen it on TV with rubber chickens, now you get to try it!
This recipe combines an easy to prepare beer can chicken grilled with a secondary spice rub on the outside of the chicken. The beer will be a good amount of moisture and flavor, with the outside of the RUB follow-up of that one-twoFlavor punch!
Time and Basic Materials List
Time needed to prepare the chicken for about 15 minutes
Cooking time: About 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The hardware - What you need
A 4-5 kg roaster chicken
Weber Kettle charcoal grill or other with some head Room at the Top - domed lids work best
An average bag of natural lump charcoal
Chimney charcoal starter - optional, but you can walk the coalsfaster
Ingredients and Measures for Chicken
1 whole chicken (4-5 pounds)
1 12 ounces can play your favorite beer - with flavored beers, if you like! (Room temperature)
2 fresh garlic cloves, minced
2 fresh sprigs rosemary - you can use dried rosemary if you (about 1 teaspoon of the dried stuff like)
2 teaspoons olive oil - medium quality is fine - no need to go Extra Virgin
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 / 2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
TheJuice of one lemon - translated into slightly less than 1 / 4 cup
Ingredients and Measures for the Rub
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped (again, you can substitute dry if you do not have the fresh stuff)
1 / 2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 / 2 teaspoon lemon zest (I use one of these small files - but not on inspiration from more than just the yellow color - the white stuffbitter)
Now - Time to Pull It All Together
, Start by putting your coals nice and hot on the chimney starter. Leave them in your BBQ grill or smoker and crank the heat to about 225 degrees F. (You can find BBQ Thermometer online at Amazon.)

Place the Beer Can Chicken on the grill
